Thanksgiving is that time of the year when our happiness is on cloud nine and we see all things fine. For most of us, it is about family reunions, while others plan short vacations with family and friends. To some, it's about savoring scrumptious feasts with loved ones.
But how many of us genuinely think about the real significance of Thanksgiving and what if we could inculcate the true values of Thanksgiving in our daily lives?
This year let's celebrate Thanksgiving not for a day but for the whole year, and make a to-do list of activities that will not only showcase our thankfulness for the lives we have but will enrich us as humans.
How to Practice Thankfulness Daily
Thanking the Almighty –

We all know that there is a supreme power above all that is the pivotal strength that makes the world go round. The first thing that we all should practice doing every morning is thanking the Almighty, the supreme power for our being. It is only because of him that we can wake up and breathe in the fresh morning air. Hence, we should thank him each morning for blessing us with another day of hope and activity.
Thanking others

– There are numerous other things that we should be thankful for other than the morning we wake up to, it's our family. We should be grateful to our family for bringing us up in society to be responsible individuals. It is our parents who raise us, feed us, and nurture us to be what we are today. Therefore, we should show our gratitude towards them for their hard work and sacrifices that they undergo to bring us up. Practicing a warm hug or a thank you is all it takes to show our gratitude towards them.
Counting blessings -

This practice is all about making a list of five things every day for which we are grateful. This will teach us the value of each and everything and everyone in our surroundings.
Being thankful for all the small and big things in life –

Another brilliant way of practicing Thanksgiving in our daily lives is being grateful for all the little or big things that happen in our day-to-day chores in life. This can be done by making a “Gratitude Jar” and putting small chits containing names of people or things that matter a lot to us. Each day we can add a chit to the jar and on Thanksgiving Day we can open the jar and be thankful for all the names that we have saved for the entire year.
Practicing Mental Subtraction –

This is a simple concept where we can imagine our lives without one person around us. This will evoke a sense of immense love and dependency towards that person and help us remain grateful to that person forever.
Being Intentional –

This is the last and probably the most important point for practicing Thanksgiving in our daily lives. Our day-to-day lives are hectic and full of activities, therefore, if we are not intentional about being grateful it becomes very easy to neglect or forget Thanksgiving.
In conclusion, it can be very difficult to remain grateful for practicing Thanksgiving in our regular lives, especially in this fast-paced tech-driven world where we learn to appreciate only those things that are readily available to us in minutes. But practicing thankfulness regularly will help us stay grounded and humble and support us to evolve as better human beings.
